CAT is one of the toughest national-level exams for admission in MBA programmes, so you must have a strong strategy to ace it. Every year lakhs of students appear for the test but only a few thousands are able to make it through, which clearly show the level of difficulty of the exam. CAT 2018 is scheduled to be held on 25th November 2018, so less than 2 months are left for your preparations. If you want to crack CAT, then you must have a roadmap to ace it. You must have a plan that can lead you to success.

Paper Pattern

Before setting a roadmap for CAT 2018, you must know that the exam will have 3 sections -. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. The exam will be of 300 marks. The time allotted for the test is 180 minutes i.e. 3 hours and for each wrong answer, there is a negative marking of 1 mark. Students qualifying the test are called for Writing Ability Test, Group discussion and personal Interview and then the student is finally selected for top B-schools based on his overall performance.

Here, we are providing you a roadmap to follow; this will help you to ace CAT 2018.

Time Division for Each section

As CAT 2018 will have 3 sections i.e. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude of 300 marks, you must divide your time to pay attention to each section. Divide the time left for your preparations according to time. For example, give 10 days to Quantitative Aptitude, 10 days to Verbal Ability and so on. A proper time for each section will help you prepare well for your exam.

Separate strategy for each section

After the proper division of time for each section, you must make a strategy for each section. This strategy can differ from person to person and it only depends on you, which strategy to follow. Like if in Logical reasoning, you are weak in puzzles or seating arrangements then you should start with the topic and practice a lot of questions about the topic. After completing its move to other topic and so on. In this way, you will complete all the topics in each subject.

Mock tests

Mock tests are the most important part of your preparations now. You should attempt more and more mock tests to analyze your preparations. These tests give you an analysis of how you are performing in each section and it also helps you to increase your speed. Speed is the important factor for your CAT exam as each section has a time limit of 1 hour during the exam, so you need to speed up. Moreover, these tests can help you in checking your accuracy and will also highlight areas you need to work more.

Learn from previous exams

Previous year papers are always an important asset for any student. These papers help you in understanding the level and type of questions in the exam. Like CAT 2018 saw 9-10 arithmetic questions, 5 passages, 16 DI questions, so you can also base your preparations on this pattern or can just be prepared if a similar type of pattern is encountered by you in CAT 2018.

Revise

Now when such less time is left for the exam, the success mantra for all the students is a revision. Yes, you must revise what you have studied before as you may forget some concepts till the exam. You can note down important points in a notebook and revise them at them or you can follow any procedure but remember revision is a must.

Relax

As the exam is near, you should not panic and try your best. You should try to keep yourself relax and calm and be prepared to give your best.
